At St. James’ we baptize children and adults. Most baptisms involve small children, with their parents and godparents making promises on their behalf. However, every year, we are also delighted to be able to baptize a number of adults. If you (or your child) are ready for baptism, we encourage you to contact the Rev. The\u00a0Toddler Class<\/strong>\u00a0(2-3 year olds) and \u00a0Primary Class<\/strong>\u00a0(4-6 year olds) gather each week for a combined chapel service, led by one of the clergy, with lively singing, age-appropriate homily and prayers. The Holy Eucharist is offered on the 4th Sunday of the month.<\/p>\n After the chapel service, the Toddler Class returns to their classroom. The\u00a09:10 a.m. service<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0especially welcomes children and families and offers several opportunities for children and youth to participate actively. Each Sunday, children in grades 3 through 12 serve as acolytes; those in grades 5 and higher serve as lay readers; 8th through 12th graders serve as ushers; and 7th through 12th graders lead the prayers. Children 4 years old and older are encouraged to be a part of our incredible Children\u2019s Music program, Depending on level, Children\u2019s Choirs sing as regularly as every Sunday and as infrequently as once a month.<\/p>\n The first Sunday of the month is\u00a0usually<\/em>\u00a0the\u00a0Children\u2019s Eucharist<\/strong>, though sometimes holiday schedules move that to a different Sunday. The children\u2019s choirs lead our worship, individual classes lead the prayers of the people, and all the children are invited sit on the floor for a homily geared toward our youngest parishioners.
